Asociación Nacional de Organizaciones No-Gubernamentales Orientadas al Desarrollo (ANONG) $35,000 over two years, to establish a training fund that will provide scholarship support to professionals of NGOs and public-sector agencies collaborating in youth development programs. The fund will mobilize resources from other local and international sources, coordinate existing training programs, and meet the demand for more specialized training courses. (UR-175)

Fundación Uruguaya de Cooperación y Desarrollo Solidarios (FUNDASOL) $31,000 over one year, to partially capitalize the Small Business Development and Management Training Fund, which will provide loans and scholarships to 350 small- and microentrepreneurs. (UR-174)
Supplemental Grants
Centro de Informaciones y Estudios del Uruguay (CIESU) $27,265, to provide training and technical assistance on the MERCOSUR regional integration process to small-scale farmer organizations to ensure grassroots participation in policy discussions and to improve market integration strategies for 30,000 small-scale Uruguayan farmers. Centro Latinoamericano de Economía Humana (CLAEH) $62,710, to improve the income and living conditions of approximately 1,000 low-income inhabitants of the interior towns of Tambores, Tranqueras, and Fraile Muerto by providing technical assistance and training to 30 microenterprises and approximately 10 neighborhood associations. CLAEH will collect information on project impact and publish a working paper on the methodology and results of this project. (UR-173)

Confederación Uruguaya de Entidades Cooperativas (CUDECOOP) $31,500, to establish a $30,000 fund that will serve as collateral for a $124,000 loan from the Central Bank of Uruguay. The loan will be used to purchase inventory (principally food and household items) for a regional distribution center to supply three consumer cooperatives from western Uruguay. The distribution center will be built with funds from the Swedish Cooperative Center and the three participating cooperatives. (UR-163)
Foro Juvenil (Foro Juvenil) $61,554, to provide training and technical assistance to approximately 1,400 youth microenterprise entrepreneurs, and to assist 115 unemployed and underemployed youth gain better job skills. (UR-156-A5)
Fundación Salud para Todos en el Año 2000 (CAPS) $143,000, to train 80 school teachers and 96 volunteer health educators in preventive health techniques, and conduct seminars to increase the participation of pregnant women, youth, and disabled persons in health prevention activities, benefiting low-income residents of Las Piedras and surrounding communities. Gurises Unidos $51,000, to continue an educational program geared to 120 street children and educate the public on the plight of street children in Montevideo. (UR-172)
