New Grants
Asociación de Mujeres Salvadoreñas (ADEMUSA) $99,500 over three years, to expand a revolving loan fund and provide technical assistance and training, benefiting 200 peasant and urban women microentrepreneurs. (ES-168)
Corporación Departamental para el Desarrollo Integral de Morazán (CORDIM) $100,000 over one year, to continue a participatory grassroots needs assessment and planning process, and to develop its capacity to translate these plans into successful proposals for funding, resulting in the mobilization of approximately $2 million for local development, benefiting 50 NGOs in Morazán. Radio Estéreo Cabal (CABAL) $110,000 over three years, to implement a strategic plan in partnership with the Danish Association for International Cooperation ($150,312) that will lead to CABAL's financial sustainability as a commercial radio station while meeting its mission of public interest programming for 180,000 listeners, many of whom are women heads of household and at risk youth, in San Salvador's poorest communities. Sociedad Cooperativa de Productores y Exportadores de El Salvador de R.L. (PROEXAL) $86,500 over three years, to set up a post-harvest processing plant for organic produce, benefiting 20 farmers and creating employment for 25 women. (ES-170)
Supplemental Grants
Asociación Coordinadora para el Desarrollo de las Comunidades de la Union y Sur de Morazán (CODELUM) $81,500, to provide 28 scholarships for vocational instructors to improve their technical skills and technical training for established microentrepreneur graduates of the vocational programs, and to extend vocational and business management training to 80 former youth gang members, benefiting approximately 500 disadvantaged youth, women, and their families. Fundación Promotora de Productores y Empresarios Salvadoreños (PROESA) $67,300, to continue providing training and technical assistance in agricultural production, strategic planning, project formulation, cooperative education leadership, and marketing, benefiting 498 ex-combatant and displaced peoples and their families.
