Centro Regional para el Autodesarrollo Rural (CREAR) $60,000, to expand a training and technical assistance program in goat production to an additional 100 subsistence-level livestock producers in northwest Córdoba; and to help small farmers form a representative organization to manage the production and marketing of livestock within the region. Federación Asociación Centros Educativos de Producción Total (FACEPT) $80,000, to strengthen the leadership and self-management abilities in 10 rural communities in Buenos Aires, identify and implement community-based production and employment activities, and provide a relevant rural education for youth, thereby halting migration to urban areas; and to disseminate this program of local development more widely in Argentina by producing a manual, video, and learning exchanges. Servicio en Promoción Humana (SERVIPROH) $71,000, to continue to provide training in preventive health, administration, and leadership to 60 representatives of 15 community organizations, and to improve its own evaluation, strategic planning, and local and international fundraising abilities. Servicio en Promoción Humana (SERVIPROH)2 $2,800, to enable the grantee to share ideas on cooperation at the local level with the private sector, local governments, and other nongovernmental or community organizations, including some supported by the IAF, at the Second Inter-American Conference of Mayors held in Miami, Florida, April 17–19, 1996. Information from the conference should help SERVIPROH improve its program operations, particularly strategies for forming partnerships with other key local organizations to address economic, environmental, and other development priorities. Servicio Habitacional y de Acción Social (SEHAS) $80,000, to continue assisting 12 neighborhood associations in Córdoba with self-help projects to improve housing, sanitation, health, and employment opportunities; helping municipal governments collaborate more effectively with community groups; and conducting statistical surveys and program evaluations to improve the effectiveness of nongovernmental and public service agencies working with the urban poor in Córdoba. Unión de Organizaciones de Base por los Derechos Sociales (UOBDS) $42,931, to complete the first year of a three-year project to conduct training workshops, meetings, and special studies designed to strengthen participation and leadership within the organization and further enhance its ability to influence the formulation and implementation of social policies and programs at the local level, benefiting 12,000 families who comprise UOBDS' 82 member organizations in Córdoba. Unión de Organizaciones de Base por los Derechos Sociales (UOBDS)2 $113,338, to strengthen participation and leadership within the organization and enhance its ability to influence the formulation and implementation of social policies and programs at the local level, thereby benfiting 14,000 families who comprise the UOBDS's 108 member organizations in Córdoba; and to share its experiences with other social movements in Argentina.
