Three Grantee Partners Awarded for Quality Coffee
Looking for a good cup o’ joe? Three of our grantee partners recently received awards from the Small Producers’ Symbol (Símbolo de Pequeños Productores, SPP) at the 2017 Global Specialty Coffee Expo. The award ceremony took place in Seattle, Washington in April.
Guatemalan farming cooperative Asociación Barillense de Agricultores (ASOBAGRI) won the Traders’ Choice award.
The organization of farmers Finca Triunfo Verde (FTV) in Mexico won the award for Original Flavor.
The prize for Best Pioneer went to another grantee partner from Mexico, Unión de Productores Orgánicos Beneficio Majomut (Majomut or in Tsotsil “Place of Birds”).
According to to the Small Producer’s Symbol, “The SPP Coffee Awards recognize the quality of coffee from SPP-small producers’ organizations and show the capacity of these producers to compete internationally with supreme quality, sustainable, fair trade products, adding ethical value to the production-distribution chain.”
