Advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility and integrating it into our practice is at the core of the Inter-American Foundation’s (IAF) values and our mission to invest in and partner with underserved populations, their enterprises, and organizations across Latin America and the Caribbean. 

We view embracing diversity and accelerating equity as integral to our congressional mandate to “stimulate and assist effective and ever wider participation of the people in the development process.”

We believe that diversity among IAF staff and the inclusion of historically marginalized populations among IAF grantees builds our collective impact and effectiveness in solving problems and seizing opportunities. 

We commit to proactively reducing bias and building a culture of inclusion and equity that is reflected in our staff, work culture, business operations, grantmaking, partnerships, and programs. We recognize that this work is ongoing and requires adapting to changing contexts. We pledge to continually pursue our values with humility, openness, and grace.
