We’re excited to pass along the announcement that our partner RedEAmérica is accepting nominations for its 2018 Premio Transformadores. The award recognizes innovation in grassroots development throughout Latin America and is open to members and non-members of the RedEAmérica network.
Supporting community partners’ capacity to unlock additional resources for their projects is at the heart of the IAF’s approach to grassroots development. This is why we put so much effort into building strong networks, platforms and communities of practice devoted to working collaboratively.
As part of this effort, we launched RedEAmérica in 2002 as a business-sector alliance committed to supporting community-led projects in Latin America and the Caribbean. Member corporations build into their core business goals investment in grassroots development as a way to support communities that reach beyond traditional corporate charity. RedEAmérica has grown from 27 founding members to a corps representing 80 corporate foundations supported by over 360 companies in 13 countries.
Today, we’re proud to see how network members learn from their peers’ experiences, develop relationships with strong allies, channel and unlock resources, and incorporate new values and practices.
To highlight the community development work that members support, RedEAmérica established its Premio Transformadores in 2012. Reflecting the wealth of experiences, lessons learned and good practices that exist in Latin America, this award is unique due to its character of international recognition of sustainable and diverse communities.
On behalf of RedEAmérica, we encourage nominations from companies, foundations and institutes that operate in Latin America and the Caribbean. Nominations should highlight the contribution of new initiatives that respond to highly complex social problems.
The registration period begins today and will remain open until November 12, 2018. The Award has two categories: Private Social Investment and Sustainable Communities, and Businesses and Sustainable Communities.
