Country Strategy

Jamaica struggles with crime and violence, slow economic growth, and pockets of poverty. It is also vulnerable to natural disasters and extreme weather events. We invest in local organizations that enhance peace and security and promote social inclusion. They also strengthen conservation and resilience efforts to guard against natural disasters, and bolster community-based businesses. For example, our grantees currently manage a violence prevention program with inner-city youth, a community tourism business, and a sustainable agriculture project.
