Project Description

Despite the wealth of natural resources  and diversity of wildlife in southern Belize, most rural farming communities in the Toledo district live in  poverty. Ya’axché Conservation Trust (YCT) provides technical assistance to farmers and their families to develop skills in leadership, organization management and agroforestry practices to cultivate staple foods for consumption and cacao as a cash crop. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to expand economic opportunities in Belize. YCT’s activities promote smallholder agriculture and food production to enhance food security and ensure meaningful opportunities for communities to thrive.
