Residents of the Bolivian Amazon face high levels of poverty, poor nutrition and food insecurity due to degraded soils and limited economic opportunities. Instituto para el Hombre, Agricultura y Ecologia (IPHAE) works with three producer associations and a local enterprise to strengthen these grassroots groups’ leadership and management capacity to sustainably produce, process and market Amazonian fruits in local and national markets. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to expand economic opportunity in Bolivia. IPHAE’s activities support smallholder agriculture to enhance food security to ensure meaningful opportunities for communities to thrive.
