In recent years, families from rural Bolivia have rapidly migrated to the urban center of El Alto, straining its available resources. As a result, these migrant—especially women and youth—often struggle to earn a living and access healthy and affordable food. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions that improve food security, expand economic opportunity, and increase civic engagement in Bolivia. Our grantee partner, Centro de Formación y Capacitación para la Participación Ciudadana (FOCAPACI), works with producer and consumer groups to improve and promote organic production techniques, provide access to healthy foods, generate income, and strengthen women and young people’s capacity to advocate for public policies that promote nutrition, food security, and gender equity.
