Project Description

In the southeastern portion of the Brazilian Amazon region, marginalized communities have limited food supply and other means to sustain their livelihoods. Alternativas para Pequena Agricultura no Tocantins (APA-TO) develops and applies new technologies that allow communities to generate income and food supply through agroforestry, water conservation and honey production, and to address environmental degradation. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to expand economic opportunity in Brazil. APA-TO’s activities promote smallholder agriculture and food production to enhance food security and ensure meaningful opportunities for communities to thrive.
