Project Description

Historically the Pitaguary and Tremembé communities in Ceará, Brazil have had limited sources of household income that prevent them from escaping the cycle of poverty. Associação para Desenvolvimento Local Co-produzido (ADELCO) provides technical assistance to communities in the state of Ceará to develop cultural tourism as a revenue stream and to improve sanitation, infrastructure and community health. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to expand economic opportunity in Brazil. ADELCO’s activities ensure healthy families and strengthen the social fabric of communities.
