Family farms in the semiarid region of Paraíba, in the Brazilian Northeast, face food security and income-generation challenges do to extended drought and limited access to technical assistance. Centro de Educação e Organização Popular (CEOP) works with farmers of rural communities — especially women and young people — to diversify crop production and develop sustainable agroecological techniques to manage their plots and improve soil fertility. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to expand economic opportunity in Brazil. CEOP’s activities promote smallholder agriculture and food production to enhance food security and ensure meaningful opportunities for communities to thrive.
