Young Quilombola people from marginalized urban and rural areas in Sergipe benefit from educational activities about discrimination, cultural heritage, citizen roles within society, human rights and employment opportunities. Associação Quilombola do Povoado Patioba (AQUIPP) provides a series of workshops for young people to strengthen their Afro-Brazilian cultural identity and develop leadership and employable skills. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to expand economic opportunity in Brazil. AQUIPP’s activities strengthen communities through education and training and builds peer-to-peer learning and action networks.
