People with non-traditional gender identities or sexual orientations face barriers to participation in their communities in the Caribbean region. Corporación Caribe Afirmativo (Caribe Afirmativo) increases visibility of this group’s struggles, offers psychological support to individuals, especially those who have been victims of Colombia’s armed conflict, and raises awareness of their rights. Caribe Afirmativo’s activities encourage civic participation to allow marginalized groups to defend their rights and advocate for government accountability.
