Overfishing threatens the environment and livelihoods of many fishing communities in Costa Rica. Cooperativa Autogestionaria de Servicios Profesionales para la Solidaridad Social, R.L. (CoopeSoliDar) helps build the capacity of a community fishers association, enables fishers to participate in the development of a community-managed marine reserve, and educates the public on small-scale fishing along the Pacific coast. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to expand economic opportunity in Costa Rica. CoopeSoliDar’s activities promote food production to enhance food security and ensure meaningful opportunities for communities to thrive.
