Project Description

Drought and soil degradation are critical issues that affect food security and small-holder farmers in Nuevo Edén. Asociación para el Desarrollo Sostenible de El Salvador (Popol Na) coordinates with an environmental committee and local cooperative to develop farmers’ skills in sustainable, diversified, organic agricultural production that helps improve food supply and promote economic alternatives to migration. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to expand economic opportunity in El Salvador. Popol Na’s activities promote smallholder agriculture and food production to enhance food security and ensure meaningful opportunities for communities to thrive.

This grant is part of the IAF’s efforts to address the root causes of irregular migration in Central America.
