Project Description
Families in Usulután, El Salvador, struggle to produce food in a region prone to drought and flooding, where much land and water remain contaminated after historical environmental disasters. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to improve food security, expand economic opportunity, and promote civic engagement. Our grantee partner, Asociación de Productores, Agroecológicos y Producción Orgánica de la Sierra Tecapa (APAOSIETE), is strengthening sustainable agricultural practices in the Usulután-Sierra Tecapa region by establishing an organic agriculture training school, expanding its production of organic fertilizer, raising community awareness about the benefits of organic farming, and building its institutional capacity to plan and carry out future activities.
This grant is part of the IAF’s efforts to address the root causes of irregular migration in Central America.
