Project Description
Communities in and near the Montecillos Biological Reserve face challenges of living and farming in and adjacent to protected areas with increasing environmental limitations on water and soil resources. Centro de Enseñanza Aprendizaje de Agricultura Sostenible El Socorro (CEASO) encourages families to use the Finca Humana (Human Farm) approach to establish a more reliable food supply and provides technical assistance in ecosystem restoration and agroforestry and sustainable farming. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to expand economic opportunity in Honduras. CEASO’s activities promote smallholder agriculture and food production to enhance food security and ensure meaningful opportunities for communities to thrive.
This grant is part of our broader initiative to support economic prosperity, democracy and governance consistent with the U.S Strategy for Engagement in Central America.
