Farming families in the Lempira and Santa Barbara departments in western Honduras face a lower quality of life due to challenging environmental conditions. Programa de Reconstrucción Rural (PRR) promotes the expansion of organic farming systems and farmer-led associations and provides technical and financial assistance to help farmers diversify crops and improve food security. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to expand economic opportunity in Honduras. PRR’s activities promote smallholder agriculture and food production to enhance food security and ensure meaningful opportunities for communities to thrive.
This grant is part of our broader initiative to support economic prosperity, democracy and governance consistent with the U.S Strategy for Engagement in Central America.
