Project Description

Indigenous communities of Chinantec and Zapotec face environmental challenges in the integrated management of the natural resources in the Sierra Juárez region of Oaxaca. Unión de Comunidades Productoras Forestales Zapotecos-Chinantecos de la Sierra Juárez, de R.I. (UZACHI) provides technical services and subgrants to encourage women’s and young people’s participation in the responsible management of the local ecosystem. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to expand economic opportunity in Mexico. UZACHI’s activities promote smallholder agriculture and food production to enhance food security and ensure meaningful opportunities for communities to thrive.
