Project Description

Smallholder farmers in the Mexican states of Morelos and Guerrero face barriers to generate sufficient income to sustain their families. Universidad Campesina del Sur, A.C. (Unicam-Sur) collaborates with farmer organizations in Morelos and Guerrero to improve their organizational capacity and their members’ agroecological practices and access to markets, particularly organic and alternative markets known as tianguis. At the IAF we support community-led solutions to expand economic opportunity in Mexico. Unicam-Sur’s activities strengthen communities through education and training and build peer-to-peer learning and action networks.
