Small business owners and smallholder farmers in Nicaragua face increasing difficulty in procuring loans they need to support their businesses and production. Asociacion Aldea Global Jinotega (Aldea Global) helps farmers — especially women — become more efficient and competitive in providing credit, marketing goods and controlling the quality of production. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to expand economic opportunity in Nicaragua. Aldea Global’s activities encourage small business growth, local entrepreneurship and market development to ensure meaningful opportunities for communities to thrive.

Talk about community-led development!
We are living through a historic, global crisis and many wonder how we—especially the most vulnerable among us—will recover and rebuild afterwards. We recently spoke with Steve Vetter, a former IAF leader, who recalled another time in the IAF's history when grantees displayed resilience in the face of disaster.
