In the peri-urban area of Ciudad Sandino, near Managua, young Nicaraguans struggle with violence and unemployment. Centro de Comunicación y Educación Popular Cantera (CANTERA) provides technical assistance and entrepreneurship support for at-risk young people to develop small business initiatives and engage in community development. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to expand peace and security in Nicaragua. CANTERA’s activities encourage small business growth, local entrepreneurship and market development to ensure meaningful opportunities for communities to thrive.
