Project Description

Gender-based violence is prevalent in the metropolitan district of San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima. Asociación Peruana Mujer y Familia (APMF) works with grassroots organizations, community members and public officials to combat and prevent violence and to secure access to basic protections, care and remedies against aggressors. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to enhance peace and security in Peru. APMF’s activities strengthen grassroots organizations through education and training and build peer-to-peer learning and action networks.

Project Amendments

This amendment provides APMF with $214,060 and an additional year to support vulnerable Venezuelan migrant women with mental and physical health assistance, domestic violence prevention campaigns and workshops, and legal information. As a part of this amendment, APMF is mobilizing an additional $84,400 in counterpart resources to the grant agreement.

This project is part of the IAF’s initiative to respond to the regional effects of the Venezuelan crisis.

This amendment provides APMF with an additional six months and $58,000 to address issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic, including developing COVID-19 prevention campaigns for Venezuelan migrants and distributing basic food baskets, first aid kits, and locally-sourced personal protective equipment to Venezuelan migrants who are at risk of contagion or symptomatic. APMF is also providing Venezuelan migrant women with mental health support and helping Venezuelan children enroll in local nutrition support programs. As part of the amendment, APMF is mobilizing an additional $30,100 in counterpart resources to the grant agreement.

This amendment is part of the IAF’s commitment to support displaced Venezuelans and communities impacted by the Venezuelan humanitarian crisis.
