The Inter-American Network of Corporate Foundations and Actions for Grassroots Development (RedEAmérica), is an IAF-initiated business-sector alliance committed to supporting self-help projects in the hemisphere. Launched in 2002, RedEAmérica has grown from 27 founding members to a corps representing 77 corporate foundations supported by over 360 companies in 11 countries.
By successfully establishing standards for working with grassroots organizations through corporate foundations or social responsibility programs, and opening channels for consistent interaction, collaboration and learning among its members, RedEAmérica has become a reference point for corporate interactions with communities.
The IAF has directly contributed to the consolidation of these practices by entering into agreements with RedEAmérica members, requiring that these corporate partners match the IAF's contribution and follow established grassroots development practices. Between 2003 and 2015, RedEAmérica’s members have invested $18,478,150 in these cooperative programs, almost doubling the $9,884,080 committed by the IAF over the same period. In addition, grassroots groups that accessed funds for their projects mobilized more than $4,500,000. This joint funding has reached individuals and communities through initiatives undertaken by grassroots groups, often incipient, whose projects were too small to qualify for direct IAF awards.
IAF's most recent strategic plan that includes an exploration of best practices in making core business functions more supportive of grassroots development. For more information, go to redeamerica.org
