Aswathi Zachariah joined the IAF in February 2020 as General Counsel. She previously spent over six years serving as Associate General Counsel at the National Endowment for the Arts. There, she worked on numerous areas, including grant compliance, strengthening public-private partnerships, litigation matters, managing the ethics program, and working with senior leadership on agency programs, policies, and initiatives. Aswathi also spent time in private practice at the DC law firm Arent Fox, where she specialized in corporate and real estate law. Prior to beginning her career as an attorney, Aswathi worked as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the audit practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers where her focus was on financial sector clients. Aswathi was born in Kerala, India, and raised in Denver, Colorado. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her JD from the University of Denver. Aswathi, an arts and travel enthusiast, lives in Washington D.C. with her husband and two sons.
