Juliana has been the IAF’s local liaison in Brazil since 2002, based in the Northeast city of Recife. Her work with the IAF has included facilitating learning and exchange opportunities between project teams as a way of bringing new ideas to their development contexts, and strengthening collaboration between grantees.
Juliana is a community therapist and has facilitated conflict resolution groups in Recife with at-risk youth and adults. She has also been a consultant for organizations like The International Exchange (TIE), in promoting creative team building and strategic planning.
Juliana has also worked as a consultant on communications projects for organizations like the Inter-American Dialogue, to highlight racial inequalities throughout Latin America, and Chlopak, Leonard, Schechter & Associates, conducting outreach for private sector companies, as well as developing communications strategies for World Bank projects.
She has a degree in International Relations from Tufts University, and graduate degrees in Communications and Family Therapy, from the Federal University of Pernambuco, and Community Therapy from the Federal University of Ceará.
