Before joining the IAF, Margaret Francis worked for 12 years for The Nature Conservancy, during which time she spent five years with the Amazon Program that spans six South American countries. While at the Conservancy, Margaret helped implement a program focused on agriculture, sustainable landscapes and natural resource management by indigenous communities. Prior to that Margaret worked on international development and emergency response programs throughout Latin America with the U.S. Forest Service International Programs’ Disaster Assistance Support Program, Chemonics International and Catholic Relief Services.

Margaret was a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras and a Fulbright Scholar in Brazil. She has a master’s degree in environmental management from Yale University, a bachelor’s degree in international studies and a bachelor’s in Spanish from Miami University in Ohio.
