Associate General Counsel

Nicole Stinson joined the IAF in May 2018 as Associate General Counsel and has served as Acting General Counsel since October 2019. In these positions, she has provided legal and policy advice to the Board of Directors, management team, and staff. Before the IAF, Nicole worked at the Department of Justice in the Civil Rights Division-Special Litigation Section and the Office of Information Policy. There she honed her legal skills processing Freedom of Information Act requests and working on civil rights cases addressing conditions in correctional facilities, juvenile justice institutions, and the conduct of law enforcement.

Nicole grew up in the New York/New Jersey area and holds a B.A. in International Relations from Wellesley College and a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School. She is proficient in Spanish and has family roots in Costa Rica, with relatives in the capital of San José and the Caribbean province of Limón. In her spare time she loves to take pictures, travel, exercise, and spend time with her loved ones.
